About Eggster

Since 1995 | 32nd Annual Festival

The Eggster Egghunt & Learning Festival is a free one-day carnival of fun and learning open to the Bay Area community, with over 1,000 children and families enjoying egg hunts, entertainment, and 30+ learning booths run by 100+ student volunteers.

Community Impact

We have raised close to $10,000 through individual and corporate donations. Proceeds go toward local nonprofit children's agencies.

Our Mission

Educational Access

A free event on the UC Berkeley campus offering egg hunts, learning booths, and performances while introducing children to the benefits of higher education.

Community Partnerships

Bringing together corporations, local businesses, UC Berkeley alumni and students to support youth-oriented nonprofits.

Campus Unity

Uniting UC Berkeley organizations, departments, and students in serving the local community.

History

In the fall of 1994, undergraduate students from the Alumni Scholars Club proposed creating a learning festival at UC Berkeley to inspire children from under-represented communities toward higher education. With support from the California Alumni Association and UC Berkeley alumni, the first Eggster festival was held on April 15, 1995.

Today, the Eggster Committee is made up of Alumni Scholars and other Cal student volunteers, supported by the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC).

First Festival — 1995

Over two thousand community members and three hundred UC Berkeley students participated in the inaugural free event.
